AI consulting for sales teams
AI consulting for sales teams: use AI where it creates client conversations
AI consulting for sales clarifies where in your sales process AI actually saves time or finds the better moment for a conversation – and where it does not. We then introduce AI with your team wherever it pays off: tested on a small scale and measured against KPIs. That applies to teams already working with several AI tools just as much as to teams that are only getting started.
You are advised by people who use AI in their own prospecting every day and who are behind PrioX, the AI agency for the entire sales process that Florian Weippert co-founded. We do not recommend anything that has not proven itself in our own conversations.
Roles and projects of our founder
Companies our founder worked for in sales or looked after in projects – partly as an employee, partly as a service provider.
The right step
When does AI consulting help in sales – and when does it not?
AI consulting helps when your sales basically work but too much time goes into groundwork: researching, sorting, taking notes, keeping the CRM up to date, following up offers. Or when your team has tools but nobody can say which of them has brought in a single extra meeting. Then you do not need yet another tool trial but a decision: which two tasks does AI take on first, who checks the result, and how do we measure it?
The need is widespread: according to the German digital association Bitkom (September 2026, in German), 57 per cent of companies with 20 or more employees use AI, yet nine in ten still see themselves at the beginning. In Salesforce’s “State of Sales” survey, 87 per cent of salespeople say their organisation uses AI. Even so, according to the same survey, salespeople spend on average only 40 per cent of their time selling.
If, on the other hand, a clear ideal customer profile or a clean process is missing, AI only amplifies the confusion. Then sales consulting is the better first step. If you first want to analyse your processes with your team, find the AI use cases that fit and rate them by benefit, feasibility and strategic relevance, the AI workshop for sales teams is the right place to start. And if you simply lack capacity, software will not help, but outsourced prospecting will.
In the first call we tell you what your situation really calls for, even if the answer is: you do not need AI consulting.
What we review
Where does AI come in for sales? The six areas we review
At DEALMAKERS, AI consulting for sales reviews six areas, because not every task benefits from AI to the same degree. The guiding question is always the same: what takes time and needs no relationship? AI can take that on. Whatever needs trust stays with people.
New business: whom do we call today?
We review how your target clients are selected and whether there is a reason for every call. AI can continuously evaluate job ads, company news and register entries and show which companies have something going on right now.
Meeting, offer and close
We review how long preparation, call notes and follow-up take. AI produces one-page briefings, summarises conversations and suggests the next step. A person checks before anything goes to the client.
AI agents and automated workflows
We review which workflows can do without a relationship: CRM upkeep, reminders, drafts of follow-up emails, initial research. For agents that write on their own, we clarify permissions, budget and oversight.
Enquiries via website and forms
We review how quickly incoming enquiries are handled and which come first. AI can pre-sort enquiries and enrich them with public information so that the most important ones do not sit waiting in the inbox.
Sales management and forecasting
We review whether your pipeline figures allow a decision. AI can surface early warning signs: offers without a response, meetings without a next step, opportunities that have been stuck at the same stage for weeks.
Data, CRM and rules
We review whether the documents AI needs are in place. Without an ideal customer profile, key messages, a collection of objections and pricing rules, AI writes generic copy.
AI agents
Are AI agents and “AI SDRs” worth it in sales?
In sales, an AI agent is worth it for clearly defined tasks with fixed permissions, not as a replacement for your sales team. Software that researches target clients, writes to them and follows up on its own is currently being sold as an “AI SDR” or AI sales agent. It can take on groundwork at scale. But it can also burn through a market within a few weeks if it writes without a reason, without oversight and to the wrong companies. That is why we introduce an agent the way you would introduce a new employee.
| Question | What matters |
|---|---|
| Which task exactly? | One clearly defined task, such as initial research or follow-up after a trade fair, instead of “do the selling” |
| Which permissions? | What the agent may do without approval and what a person checks first |
| What budget? | Cost per month and per contact, measured against what a meeting may cost |
| Who keeps an eye on it? | One responsible person who reads a sample of the messages in the first weeks |
Our experience from our own prospecting: the lever lies in filtering out and in timing, not in the number of messages. How we do this is set out under triggers and signals.
Process
How does AI consulting for sales work?
At DEALMAKERS, AI consulting for sales runs in three phases: AI sales check (around 2 weeks), pilot (30 days) and rollout (by day 90). We never start with a tool: first we settle which task AI should take on and how we will measure success.
Phase 1: AI sales check (around 2 weeks)
In the AI sales check we talk to management, the head of sales and two or three salespeople, look at your CRM, templates and existing tools and measure where the time goes today. The result: a list of the tasks with the biggest lever and a recommendation for two use cases.
Phase 2: 30-day pilot
The pilot tests two use cases with two or three volunteers from your team and fixed KPIs. We build templates and workflows, test them in real day-to-day selling and compare the results with the time it took before. Whatever does not pay off, we rework or drop.
Phase 3: Rollout by day 90
In the rollout we take what worked in the pilot to the whole team: with rules on who checks what, shared templates and training for everyone who works with it. At the end there is a decision based on figures, not on a presentation.
Result
What do you come away with after AI consulting?
After AI consulting for sales you have six results in hand:
- A priority list: which tasks AI should take on in your sales, in which order, and which deliberately not.
- Four documents that teach AI your business: ideal customer profile with exclusion criteria, key messages, collection of objections, pricing rules.
- Tested templates and workflows for the selected use cases.
- Rules for the team: what a person checks before anything goes to clients, and who approves new versions.
- A tool recommendation with reasons, even if it says: the tool you already have is enough.
- KPIs before and after for every use case.
Typical projects: what we implement with clients
AI consulting does not stop at the concept. These are the projects we implement with clients, individually or one after another:
| Project | What happens | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Map your target market completely | The AI rates every company in your region or industry against your target profile, including those not yet in your CRM, and filters out duplicates and existing clients. | You know how big your market really is and where a conversation is worth it now. |
| Rebuild how contacts in the CRM are scored | Contacts and enquiries are rated not only by industry and size, but also by whether there is a trigger right now. | Your sales team works first on the companies where something is happening now. |
| Build a prospecting system and hand it over to your team | Triggers, daily list, preparation per call and CRM integration are set up, tested in the pilot and handed over. | Your team then works with it on its own. |
| Win back dormant offers | The AI continuously checks open and lost offers for new triggers, such as a new decision maker. | A second window for offers that had already been written off. |
| Prepare for trade fairs and follow up | You know in advance which target clients will be there; the opening and the follow-up are prepared. | More conversations at the stand and no contact left lying after the fair. |
| Have prospecting run on an ongoing basis | If your team lacks the time, experienced DEALMAKERS salespeople hold the conversations themselves, using the same system. | Confirmed meetings instead of another tool; more on this under winning new clients. |
Which projects have the biggest lever for you is what we clarify in the AI sales check. What such projects look like in practice is shown by three anonymised examples in our German guide KI-Agenten im Vertrieb.
Tools
Vendor-neutral – and open about where we have a stake
AI consulting from DEALMAKERS is vendor-neutral. We first work with what is already approved in your company: your CRM, your office tools, your AI assistant. We only recommend new software if it demonstrably gets a task done faster.
To be open about it: our founder Florian Weippert co-founded PrioX, a separate company. We use it in our own prospecting. In consulting it is one option among several, and we tell you when another tool fits better.
| Task | Type of tool | What we look out for |
|---|---|---|
| Finding target clients with a current need | Software that evaluates buying signals, such as UserGems or TheirStack; increasingly also large databases such as ZoomInfo or Leadfeeder (formerly Dealfront) | How current the signals are and whether they fit your market |
| Preparing conversations and following up | A company-wide AI assistant, such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Business or Langdock from Berlin | Internal approval, effort needed for checking |
| Call notes and CRM upkeep | AI features in the CRM, for example in HubSpot or Pipedrive, or note-taking tools such as tl;dv or Gong that summarise conversations and transfer them to the CRM | Whether the data really is better afterwards |
| Pipeline and forecasting | Analysis in the CRM, for example in Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365, or dedicated forecasting tools such as Clari Forecast, which since the merger has been part of Salesloft’s offering | Whether the warnings lead to action |
| Autonomous first outreach | AI agents (“AI SDRs”) from vendors such as 11x or Artisan; HubSpot, Salesforce and Microsoft now also bring their own agents into the CRM | Clear permissions, budget and a person who keeps an eye on it |
Which tools exist in each category is set out in our German guide KI-Tools für den B2B-Vertrieb.
Division of work
What we take on. What stays with you.
We take on
- Assessment: interviews, time measurement, review of CRM and tools
- Selecting the two use cases with the biggest lever
- Building templates, workflows and rules
- Supporting the pilot and evaluating the KPIs
- Tool recommendation with reasons
- Training the team during the rollout
What stays with you
- The decision on which tools and data are approved
- Two or three volunteers for the pilot and around one hour a week
- Approval by your IT
- The client conversations, the negotiation and the close
KPIs
How can you tell whether AI is working in your sales?
Whether AI works in sales shows in more client conversations per person, not in how often the team uses AI. Before the pilot we agree together on what we measure:
- Client conversations per week and per person
- Time for preparation and follow-up per meeting
- Share of contacts with a concrete reason to talk
- Share of conversations with decision makers
- For AI agents: share of replies that lead to a conversation
- Time the team needs to check the AI’s results
How these figures relate to the other KPIs in your sales, from close rate to pipeline, is set out in our German guide KPIs im Vertrieb.
How much does AI save in sales? Figures from our experience
In sales, AI mainly saves research and wasted attempts, and it brings more conversations with the right people. The table shows figures from our own prospecting and from three anonymised client projects of PrioX, the AI agency for the entire sales process that our founder co-founded.
| Area | Without AI | With AI | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Research per call | 30 to 40 minutes | about 5 minutes, up to 90 % less | DEALMAKERS, own prospecting |
| Manual research in large markets | about 45 minutes per company | 80 to 99 % less | three PrioX projects |
| People reached | Call at a random time | up to 60 % more | DEALMAKERS, live view of who is in a meeting right now |
| Dial attempts per qualified meeting | 30 to 100 | about 5 under optimal conditions | DEALMAKERS |
| Decision-maker conversations that turn into a meeting | 5 % | around 60 % | PrioX project in M&A advisory |
| Pipeline per salesperson | Baseline | three times as much | PrioX project at a B2B payment provider |
The figures come from individual projects and are not a promise. What else falls away – from an in-house research team to the forgotten offer – is set out in our German guide KI-Agenten im Vertrieb. How our own figures come about is explained under our figures.
If checking takes longer than the work itself, the solution does not pay off, and we rework it.

Frequently asked
Questions about AI consulting for sales
What does AI consulting for sales do?
It clarifies which sales tasks AI should take on, selects suitable tools and introduces them with the team. At DEALMAKERS this happens in three phases: AI sales check, 30-day pilot with two use cases and rollout by day 90, measured against KPIs such as client conversations per week.
What does AI consulting for sales cost?
Billing is fair: by the hour, by day rate or as a fixed fee for the project. Because every starting position is different, you receive the price after the first call as a clearly scoped offer.
Do we need a particular CRM or AI tool?
No. We first work with what is approved in your company. We only recommend new software if it demonstrably gets a task done faster.
Will AI replace our salespeople?
No. AI takes on the groundwork: researching, sorting, summarising, reminding. The conversation, the trust and the negotiation stay with people. The goal is more time for clients, not fewer people in sales.
How quickly will we see results?
The first measurements are available after the 30-day pilot. Whether a solution is worth it for the whole team is something you decide after around 90 days.
How much does AI save in sales?
Above all research time and wasted attempts. With AI, preparing a call takes us about 5 instead of 30 to 40 minutes, which is up to 90 per cent less research time, and thanks to the live view of who is in a meeting right now we reach up to 60 per cent more of the people we want to speak to. In three anonymised PrioX projects, manual research fell by 80 to 99 per cent. What is possible for you is shown by the AI sales check.
Is an AI agent or “AI SDR” worth it for us?
For clearly defined tasks with fixed permissions, a budget and a person who keeps an eye on it in the first weeks. For first outreach to decision makers it does not replace an experienced person.
Can you advise neutrally even though your founder co-founded PrioX?
Yes, and we disclose the stake. PrioX is one option for finding companies with a current need. For many other sales tasks it is not the right tool, and we tell you so.
Which companies is AI consulting suitable for?
For B2B companies with an offer that needs explaining and a sales team of three or more people, for example in software and IT, industry and mechanical engineering, or financial and staffing services. We do not advise purely consumer businesses. For smaller teams, B2B sales training or telephone training (from two people) is usually the more economical start.
